Dalloway Day – A Virginia Woolf Literary Walk

June 21, 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Celebrate Dalloway Day with our special Virginia Woolf Themed Literary Walk! Immerse yourself in Woolf’s period living in Richmond, writing Mrs Dalloway and publishing legends like T.S. Eliot and members of the Bloomsbury Group.

London’s most beautiful town, once the home of kings and queens. Founded by King Henry VII who built a Tudor Palace on the riverside, Elizabeth I lived at the palace for many years. William Shakespeare and his band of players even staged plays for her entertainment there. Other famous former residents include painter, Sir Joshua Reynolds, who lived on Richmond Hill and painted the view of the river, writers George Eliot, who stayed in the town, and , of course, Virginia Woolf, who lived in Richmond for ten years.

A new bronze statue of Virginia now graces the riverside terraces.

Richmond Green is another of the lovely green spaces where people like to picnic and one of its many famous residents was the actor Richard Attenborough, well known for his role in the Jurassic Park movies. The Green has been featured in many tv series such as Poirot, Grantchester and most recently in Ted Lasso and Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman.

Starting from Richmond Station which is easy to reach from Central London you will visit several places of historic and literary interest. Your Tour Guide for this walk :Freda Dahl-Nielsen Freda is an adopted Londoner having lived in Ealing for over 30 years. She loves to travel and to find out about places, including exploring London.
